[UPDATE] Post-jam update


I received a lot of feedback about the game and one common complaint is about the difficulty of the game. Initially, I dismissed it thinking the hard levels were supposed to be difficult and reasoning that even I could rarely finish a hard level. But the complaint became so common until I witnessed first-hand how even the easy level was hard (but solvable) for others. So for this update, I'm making the game easier.

One of the reasons cited regarding the game's difficulty is that the tiles close too quickly. During a prototype of the game, the tiles actually open and close slowly but it was too slow for me (and other testers). That's why I doubled the speed of opening and closing animations, which gave rise to the current problem. So for this update, I added a short delay before the closing animation that is just enough for players to familiarize themselves with the animals (and distinguish the elephant from the rhino). To compensate for the delay, I also extended the time limit appropriately. I found that these small changes greatly enhanced gameplay because I had enough time to process the animals I see. I hope players would feel that way too.

Now that the jam is over, the PPSX versions will no longer be available since I'm focusing future development (if any) on the PPTM version. The "no audio" versions are also now unavailable since their purpose is only to make downloading and evaluation easier. I'm leaving the PPTX version, however, since it was intended to be a guide (together with the first devlog).
